May 26th, 2010 marks the trip of a lifetime; our adventure seeking lifestyles and our compassionate attitudes for the outdoors will be put to the ultimate test! Yes!, our GPS will be our best friend and there will be no turning back, as we will be driving coast to coast hitting major cities and over 15 states! These winding roads will also be taking us to pure ecstasy as we will experience the adrenaline rush of class IV rapids, ATV- riding in sand dunes, the jaw opening views of the Grand Canyon, the bright lights of Vegas to testing our capabilities of pitching a tent in 8 National Parks, and perhaps even surfs up in California! (And of course everything in between the breath-taking views of the Rockies down to the Redwood trees in the Yosemite National Park). As we are all big sports enthusiast’s we can not forget about catching a game at the old -timer Wrigley field to Petco Park, the home of the Padres! 40 days, 5 people, and 9, 000 miles in a Dodge Durango, will certainly feel like we are “Grabbing Life By The Horns”!
As we began mapping our routes and filling our piggy banks almost 10 months ago, blast off is quickly approaching! We calculated the overall expense of this once in a lifetime trip including lodging, gas, food, and spending money and the winning number is....$2,998.56! As typical college students, the money is scarce; however, we are all determined to empty our pockets and scrape down to our last penny to make this trip an unforgettable adventure! Just like MasterCard, 3 oil changes... $90 dollars, a flat tire....$150 dollars, 642 gallons of gas...$1600 dollars, a 37 day cross country road trip with 4 of your best friends ...PRICELESS!
